Kennet & Avon Canal – Honeystreet to Devizes

This stage of the Kennet & Avon Canal starts at Honeystreet Mill.  Enjoy the fabulous views of the Pewsey Downs to your right, just north of the canal.  The first stop is in Devizes town itself and then you rejoin the canal to go to the Caen Hill Locks, a scheduled ancient monument. Caen Hill is one of the longest continuous flight of locks in the country – a total of 29 locks with a rise of 237 feet over 2 miles with a 1 in 44 gradient.

Morning

Walk the Kennet & Avon Canal from Honeystreet (Bridge 124) to Devizes Town (Bridge 139).

Approximately 3.5 hours

9.8 miles / 15.75 kms

Lunch at any of the Devizes pubs or cafes

1.5 hours for lunch

Afternoon

Approximately 1.5 hours 

Walk the Kennet & Avon Canal from Devizes (Bridge 139) to the Caen Hill Locks

Approximately 20 minutes
